Mycoverse Spring Potluck & UV Light Walk
Join us to celebrate spring and the growing more-than-human rights movement!
Dear Fellow Myconauts,
I am ever so grateful for our Mycoverse community when the world feels uncertain. We had so much fun with Yasmine Ostendorf-Rodriguez last month. Thanks to all who came out and contributed to the generative discussion. Reminding us to de-zombify our senses, to be present with fungi, to question notions of individuality, to be critical of the commodification of fungi, and to attune with the natural cycles of life around us (of our neighbors).
📣 I am excited to announce I will be moderating a panel on Conservation & Stewardship at the Santa Cruz Mountain Mushroom Festival next month, May 3rd-4th, 2025. The lineup looks fun.✨
☀️ The summer breeze is here in Southern California after one last hurrah of winter cool and wet temperatures. Farewell to our primary mushroom season. Soon, it will be our lawn and landscape mushroom season, so keep an eye out. 🍄🟫
Previously in the Mycoverse… Big thanks to Lola for documenting such a special evening!!
Potluck & UV Walk - Listening to the More Than Human World
Monday, April 14th, 7pm @ Arlington Garden, Pasadena, CA – Free by donation
Join us in celebrating the inspiring ✨More Than Human Rights movement 🍄 with a potluck and discussion, followed by a UV walk in the garden to explore the flowers’ hidden world of UV colors. 🔦 It’s our tradition every spring to witness the garden's spectacular floral and fungal UV fluorescence! 🌈
🌱 What are more than human rights? 🤔 They are rights extended beyond humans, which we will discuss during our potluck. Check out MOTH Rights as well. 🍄🟫
📝 🎶🔬This discussion marks the beginning of our series exploring new research that supports activism, urging us to listen and develop better relationships with the more-than-human world. We will delve into the story behind the “Song of the Cedars,” where artist Cosmo Sheldrake and his team (including mycologist Giuliana Furci ) co-composed a song with the Los Cedros cloud forest in Ecuador and how they are advocating for the forest’s co-authorship to gain legal recognition. 🌳
📣 Discussion questions will be sent to participants who RSVP in advance. More info about the potluck and discussion on Eventbrite!
